Fourth Annual Latin America Energy Conference

Upheaval and Opportunity

2020 has been a year of great upheaval for the energy sector in the Americas. The global coronavirus pandemic has led to a sharp decline in demand and prices of oil and natural gas throughout the region. Latin American national oil companies face major financial challenges. With presidential elections around the corner in the United States, the future of US energy diplomacy in the region is unclear. Yet there are also many new opportunities in this disrupted environment. Newer technologies like battery storage are advancing and will support the growth of variable renewable energy as electricity demand recovers. Oil companies are revising their investment strategies to focus on the most profitable assets. In this context, the Fourth Annual Latin America Energy Conference will convene energy company executives, US and Latin American government officials, and international and nongovernmental organizations to discuss the most pressing energy policy issues in the hemisphere.
